Club Championships 2026: a finals day to remember

More than 300 members and guests filled the stands around Centre Court on Sunday for the finals of the 2026 Club Championships. After a week of rain delays the sun finally came out, and so did the tennis.

A first title for Lily Hart

Sixteen-year-old Lily Hart, who joined our junior academy at the age of seven, beat defending champion Sarah Mitchell 6-4, 7-5 in the women’s final. “I have watched this final from the terrace every year,” Lily said. “Playing it myself was unreal.”

Three sets on Centre Court

The men’s final between Tom Okafor and Daniel Reyes went the distance. Okafor saved two match points at 5-6 in the third set before taking the tiebreak 9-7. The padel doubles title went to Emma and James Whitfield, the first married couple to win it.

Thank you to all volunteers, line judges and the bar team. Photos of the day are on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
